Kim Gandy, President National Organization for Women (NOW)
12:00 pm, luncheon
Private Dining Room, Creese Student Center
Kim Gandy is now serving her second term as President of NOW. In 2004, Gandy was one of the lead organizers of The March for Women’s Lives, which was the largest and most diverse march in our nation’s history. Gandy was also at the center of the first anti-privatization coalition and launched a nationwide campaign in 2004 to help educate women on the dangers of Social Security privatization. Her second term as President is allowing her to focus on the Supreme Court and the impact that it has on many different women’s rights.
NOW is the largest feminist advocacy group in the United States. Their purpose is to help bring women into full participation in society.
NOW’s top six priority issues include:
o Advancing Reproductive Freedom
o Promoting Diversity and Ending Racism
o Stopping Violence Against Women
o Winning Lesbian Rights
o Achieving Constitutional Equality
o Ensuring Economic Justice
